Joseph R. Mannes , COO Mr. Mannes is the President of SAMCO Capital Markets. He has worked at SAMCO since 2001, with stints as Chief Operating Officer and as a Managing Director in SAMCO's investment banking and corporate finance department. Previously, Mr. Mannes was Chief Financial Officer at Clearwire Technologies, Inc. (a provider of fixed wireless Internet data service and equipment) and E-Certify, Inc. (a consulting firm providing secure n-tier client server deployments). Before that, he was General Manager of the online division of Interactive Magic, a provider of massively multiplayer online games, based in Grapevine, TX. Mr. Mannes has also provided financial advice and leadership to a series of companies, including Second Wave, webrealestate.com, North Texas Insurance Auction, Hitech Creations, Inc. and Karts International. From 1987 to 1995 Mr. Mannes worked in the Corporate Finance Department of Rauscher Pierce Refsnes, Inc., a Dallas-based stock brokerage firm, most recently as First Vice President. Mr. Mannes began his career as a commercial lender, spending five years at the First National Bank of Boston, in Boston and Dallas. Mr. Mannes graduated with an AB from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Wharton School, Graduate Division. Board seats include Tandy Leather Factory (AMEX: TLF) and Hitech Creations, Inc. He sits on the Selection Committee for the Halter USC China Index (AMEX:HXC), which includes Chinese-focused public companies traded on the U.S. stock exchanges. Mr. Mannes is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
